Treasury Yields, Dollar Fall as Data Drought Goes On

The U.S. Dollar Index is a measure of the value of the United States dollar relative to a basket of six foreign currencies. The Index goes up when the U.S. dollar is stronger compared to other currencies. Also, the dollar is still under pressure from the ongoing US government shutdown. The longer the shutdown is maintained, the more likely the US economy will suffer and the more likely the Fed will have to cut interest rates. When prices are rising they are usually above the average. This is to be expected since the average includes data from the previous, lower priced days. As long as prices remain above the average there is strength in the market.
